Reflection & Takeaways

🗣️ Share Early, Share Often

"I realized that sharing your designs only worked in your favor."

Presenting unfinished work to 24+ senior designers was daunting. Yet, Tandem's culture of transparency taught me that vulnerability leads to growth. By sharing early prototypes in UX sync meetings, I gained invaluable feedback that sharpened my craft, deepened my design thinking, and built my confidence in articulating design decisions.

⚒️ Master the Craft

"Designing for an FDA-regulated environment demanded pixel-perfect precision."

In health-tech, "good enough" isn't an option. As a self-taught designer, I proactively sought mentorship to meet this high bar. I learned that rigorous attention to detail is a form of respect—for users, for engineers, and for the seriousness of the problem we were solving.

❤️ Empathy in Action

"The goal was to give them this feeling of control to be out of the app more."

Health-tech is a powerful reminder of why we design. At Tandem, empathy wasn't a buzzword; it was practiced daily—from using inclusive language to fiercely advocating for users in meetings. I learned to design not for engagement, but for empowerment and trust, helping people with diabetes focus more on living their lives and less on managing their condition.
